A Message From Gary Rosenzweig: I wrote Advanced Lingo for Games in 2000. It was my idea to do a Director book solely on game development, and fortunately I was able to convince Pearson Education to publish it. By all accounts the book was incredibly successful. In late 2005, I received word that the book was being taken out of print. I was able to get the rights returned to me by the publisher so I could do with it as I pleased.
But what to do with it? Republishing it didn't seem right unless I also updated the book. I didn't have time for that, and I certainly didn't want to self-publish the book anyway. So I decided to put the book up on my Web site for everyone to read for free. Now this is pretty much the text as it appears in the print version of the book. So nothing has been updated. In fact, this is actually an earlier version of the book than what was printed. All I had was the final editing copy of the text, which may or may not differ from the printed version by some last-minute changes. So please forgive some simple typos and such that may exist. Now just because I am putting the text here for free, doesn't mean that you can do anything you want with it. For instance, you can't copy it and put it at your own site, or reprint it. But you can tell your friends about it or link to it, sure. If you want to thank me for making this book available for free, just buy Special Edition Using Macromedia Director MX To start, visit the |
